Greater than us

The mountains occupy almost all the space, massive and silent, while the lake forms a breath in the heart of the landscape. There is no human presence here, only this immense nature that imposes its rhythm and its presence.

Faced with such landscapes, I deeply feel how small we are and how little we amount to. These mountains were here long before us and will undoubtedly still be here long after. Their permanence contrasts with the brevity of our lives and naturally leads us toward greater humility.

But this feeling does not crush me; quite the contrary. It gives rise to gratitude in me before such beauty, and above all, a desire to respect and preserve it. "Greater than us" also speaks to this: to what the contemplation of nature can gently change in the way we look at the world.
