Distant Land

These small formats evoke landscapes without ever seeking to represent a specific place. A horizon line, a few contours, a body of water, a certain light or mist are enough to bring a territory into view, while intentionally leaving its outlines and history open.

The choice not to represent these landscapes in an overly figurative way opens up a field of possibilities. Each person can then project their own imagination onto them, recognize a familiar atmosphere, a place they once knew, or reconnect with a memory that belongs to them.

Thus, the same painting can evoke very different landscapes and stories depending on the viewer, sometimes bringing back a place, an emotion, or a memory that one thought was forgotten.
