Uyuni

• Description

"Uyuni" was born from the memory of a very real place: the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, and that singular island where the silhouettes of cacti stand amidst the vastness.

Usually, my landscapes gradually move away from reality to leave more room for sensations and the imagination. Here, this memory was so strong, so magical, that the place imposed itself almost naturally into the painting. The cacti appeared, recognizable, and I chose to let this figurative element take its place.

In a palette of greyish blues and mineral tones, the texture captures something of the vastness and strangeness of this extraordinary landscape.

A work like the trace of a journey and a moment of wonder that has remained intact.

Canvas reproduction of the original painting "Uyuni" by Cécile Trousse.
