Immensity

Some landscapes have the capacity to stop us almost instantly. Faced with the expanse of a plain, the height of a mountain, or a sky that seems to never end, our daily preoccupations suddenly shift in scale.

Immensité was born from this sensation I experience in the face of vast open spaces. They remind us how small we are before a nature that has preceded us for a very long time and will likely continue to exist long after we are gone. For me, this realization is not at all unsettling. On the contrary, it invites humility, respect, and a sense of gratitude.

I love what these landscapes provoke in us: they shift our gaze, put things into perspective, and remind us that we are but an infinitesimal part of something much greater than ourselves.
